Everyone dreams, and most of us remember at least a few powerful dreams in our lifetime. This universality has made dream interpretation a hot topic on the Internet. However, it can be hard to find real information about how to interpret dreams. Most sites out there offer dream dictionaries that are information they have stolen from the experts and taken out of context.
There are many ways of working with dreams, and dream interpretation is just one of them. Rather than trying to solve the dream like its a math problem (substituting x for y), think of a dream as an example of our most creative thinking. It’s not a message from the unconscious, but rather another way of seeing the world. Dreams can offer many insights, but they are hardly messages meant to be solved.
Many dream researchers suggest to sit with the feelings of the dream instead of merely trying to extract a symbol from it. Those feelings are a more reliable indicator, and they reflect back to us our deeper needs, desires, and expectations.
